Alfarin 2

I suppose there are always ups and downs in a persons career and life. Well, Alfarin 2 is a bit of a downer so far.

The wrong files were uploaded and have caused a bit of a kerfluffle. My understanding is the correct files will be uploaded sometime by the end of the month, so anyone who got a copy should be able to re-sync their devices at that time and get the right book... but still that leaves a bit of a sour taste in the mouth.

If you can bear with me a little bit, I will get it fixed up -- there were some issues with the final edits that essentially didn't get fixed in time, so it was deemed best to put up a placeholder file which is a re-edited version of #1, but that is not the final file obviously. So, if you can hang in there, we'll get the right file out soon. Amazon should be sending out an announcement once the new corrected files are ready, but that might be a few days after the changes are made so I will make another blog announcement once I know the right files are uploaded for #2.

To the best of my knowledge, most copies of Alfarin 2 were stopped, but there are 16 people who received the placeholder files. If you are one of those 16 people and want to reach out to me directly, please contact me at sam_ferguson(at)Talesfromterramyr(dot)com.

So sorry for the inconvenience. There are just a lot more moving parts on a collaborative project and this one has fallen victim to the process.

If you would rather return the book and wait for the files to be uploaded correctly, that's totally fine as well.

AIKUR'S WAR!!!!

I know I always say that my books are fun, but this one really is! :) I have been waiting for it to come out for a long time, and now that it is I am super excited for it. In this tale you won't just get the action that you love in my books, but you will get to know a race of people that hasn't been explored very much in my previous works, and you will get to go into places that haven't been explored very much either.

If you like the lore that is building up on Terramyr, then you can't miss Aikur's War -- it isn't just an easter egg hauled around in book form by a warlock in The Dragon's Champion series, it's a full novel in its own right, with characters you will both love and hate. So grab your copy today!

The Crystal Spire is out NOW!

Gooooooood morning world! I am super excited to announce that The Crystal Spire has officially launched and is available for your reading pleasure!

It's already making quite a splash in the charts, which I am happy to see, but there are two other reasons why I am very excited about this particular book. The first reason is that it's an Erik Lokton story. I love working with this set of characters, and it's always fun to bring him to new and challenging places. Given all of his accomplishments and powers, it's a good brain exercise to see how I can handicap and challenge him -- which means it ends up going in places I may not have originally put into the outline that are very fun for me to discover during the writing process. :)

The other reason is that this book starts to bring some major overarching threads together, and I don't just mean from the Middle Kingdom. I always say how each book builds on another within my universe, but this one does a lot more than hide a few Easter Eggs. It is the first book to give a really major reveal about the universe as a whole. If you want to get the most out of The Crystal Spire, then you will want to be sure to have read The Dragons of Kendualdern series, Son of the Dragon, and the Haymaker Adventures as well.

If you haven't read those and you would rather dive into Crystal Spire right away, that's all right too. No matter what order you read them in, you'll get a kick out of where things are going from here on out. :)

Grab your copy today, and leave a kind review when you finish. :)

Son of the Dragon redo and new launch!

I have been re-examining some of my earlier works and thought that I should take a good hard look at The Netherworld Gate trilogy.

It is the first book that I ever wrote, and frankly it is technically the first one I ever published... It hit the shelves in 2006 -- only trouble was I had unwittingly published it with a vanity press. Still, I love the story, and not just because it's "my first" but also because I really like the main character. It's an anti-hero story plain and simple. Talon isn't like most of my other MCs, but that might also be why I like him so much. He does what he wants. He's capable of very dastardly deeds, and yet, he's still a human with deep-rooted emotional motives. He's a ton of fun -- well... he's also brutal, but hey, whatcha gonna do?

As I went through it again this spring while working on The Ghosts of Kobhir kick off, I decided that the story flowed much better as one massive book instead of three separate novels. If this one were to be printed in 5x8 like my other novels, the paperback would be over 1,100 pages long. That's like Goodkind length right there. For now it is only going to be available in e-book format, but I will at some point in the next few weeks create a collector 6x9 version (even the larger pages will still have it clocking in between 600-700).

If you have read the series and loved it, then please click on this link and leave a good review. If you haven't read it, and are looking for something different from me, then give this one a shot this summer. You may find that you will come to like Talon as well. ;)

Fun stuff for The Netherworld Gate fans

Here's another surprise for May -- Kelden and Yeoj are back in their own adventures.

If you read Winter's Ghost or the short series The Lost Heir then you are already familiar with this first volume as it blends the two together to begin the saga.

If you haven't read either Winter's Ghost or the short series while it was on my blog, then be ready to have some fun! The Ghosts of Kobhir is going to follow our two heroes as they continue to plot, scheme, and claw their way through whatever (or whoever) stands in the way of reclaiming their city. I guarantee you won't want to miss this action-packed novella, or the sequels to come.

Additionally, I am currently working on a novella prequel just for Talon -- so if you wanted to know a bit more about the deadly assassin before the events chronicled in Son of the Dragon, you will have your wish fulfilled very soon!

Cover reveal for the next Jonathan Haymaker book!

If you have been wondering what Jonathan Haymaker has been up to since the end of book 3 -- wonder no more! Book 4 is coming soon and ready to take you on an all new adventure.

Click here to pre-order your copy now!

It has been years since Jonathan last saw the strange guardian after returning home from Tanglewood Forest. His older brother is now expecting a child, and things at the farm have settled down.

Or so Jonathan thought...

When a letter arrives informing Jonathan that his dear friend Captain Ziegler has been murdered, he sets out to find answers.

The trouble is, a court prosecutor is coming with him, and she seems far more intent on proving Ziegler’s own guilt and destroying his legacy as a hero of the Troll Wars than worrying about who murdered him.

The deeper Jonathan digs, the more he realizes that Captain Ziegler may have led a double life before his time commanding the Ghosts of the Quags. Worse than that, evidence leads Jonathan to suspect his friend had returned to that life, and Ziegler's secret could prove disastrous if uncovered by the wrong people.

Jonathan must use his wits to stay three steps ahead of the prosecutor, and Ziegler’s murderers, in an adventure that becomes much more than a quest to defend his friend’s honor.

Pre-order A Land of Glass and Fire now, and prepare for Jonathan's most exciting tale yet!

Dinosaur hunting in May?

Sometimes you just have to take a fun trip! If you're looking for this month's special announcements, you'll find those at the bottom, but first I wanted to share a little bit of what my family and I did recently. It was my wife's birthday and she has mentioned a few times over the last year that she would love to take the family out to Dinosaur National Park-- so as a surprise I booked a hotel and made it a weekend getaway! It's hard to not get excited about dinosaurs in general -- but when you have five sons, it becomes a pretty fun trip. The weather was great and even from the first moment everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. We stayed at the Dinosaur Inn and Suites, and I have to say it was fantastic. I didn't take pictures of their breakfasts -- but they do cook pancakes and eggs for you each morning as part of the deal. And, because it was my wife's birthday, they helped me put a few fun things in the room too, like dinosaur towels and a bouquet of flowers. Here are a few pictures of what we were up to. Check out the Dinosaur Inn & Suites

Awww, dinosaur towels are snuggling on our bed... how cute. Inside the quarry is a massive wall of dinosaur fossils which is a lot of fun for dinosaur enthusiasts. Don't mind the milk -- that's for night time sippy cups for the little ones...And about 15 minutes away from the quarry is a fun little river where we spent part of the afternoon playing around. It might be nerdy, but this was my favorite skeleton in the museum. They didn't just have dinosaurs to look at either... And for those of you who like educational outings -- each of our kids got an activity packet about dinosaurs. Once they filled it out, a ranger checked their work and gave them fun little badges. This was my favorite replica -- a massive 7 foot long sail fin.   This shrimp cocktail was bigger than his head! Some families build sand castle -- but my family builds rock forts! And don't worry -- I still kept up with my goal of publishing something new each month. For April, I unveiled a prequel to The Dragon's Champion series. It's called The Keeper of Secrets: Dragon Born, and is a full novella about Lepkin's legendary battle at Gelleirt Monastery. Click here to grab your copy for only $0.99!

Wren and the Ravens

The last little while I have been working on a super cool project with fellow author Eric Buffington.

If you aren't familiar with his work, then check out The Troven, which spent 50 weeks in the top 100 of its category on Amazon.

He brings a fun blend of humor to an all new adventure, set in an all new world. It has certainly made for an exciting project and I am positive you will all enjoy this one.

Without further ado.... (drum roll please) I give you:

It is said in Ryr that even when you seek peace, trouble often finds you.

For teenage Liden and his four friends, that is exactly what happens. No sooner do they run away from the mining town of Ryr to find freedom and adventure than they are thrust into events that mix them up with a notorious assassin known only as Wren.

Though the teenagers and assassin share neither goals nor values, they find themselves forced into cooperation in order to survive as they are caught up in the war raging along the Satine River that separates the northern and southern kingdoms.

How will Liden and his friends escape the war zone without making an enemy of Wren? Buy Wren and the Ravens today to find out!
