Announcing the first game set on Terramyr! Gladiators of Duerbet

Happy Labor Day everyone!

Today marks the first page in a new chapter for me. Partnering with Brantley Brumley, I have finished and released the first video game based in my fictional world.
While Duerbet has been mentioned a few times in several books, it has never really gotten a chance to stand in the spotlight. So I decided it was a perfect setting for my first game. Duerbet  is home to one of the oldest and bloodiest arenas in all of Terramyr. Grab the game, and work your way through the ranks if you dare. You might also want to add some sleuthing into your arena grinding as well because not all is as it seems in Duerbet. Can you solve the mystery that plagues Duerbet?

Gladiators of Duerbet is only $0.99 right now so snag it quick and let me know what you think.

Stay tuned for more games to come -- Jonathan Haymaker's game is nearing completion and promises a ton of RPG action!

The Dragon's Champion turns 6 today!

Catch me on Bookbub; Amazon; Facebook; or Goodreads

Good morning!

Today is a very important day for me -- and for anyone who enjoys my books. Today, The Dragon's Champion turns six years old, and so does my career as a writer! I chose this day back in 2013 because it also coincides with my wife's birthday. I thought it would give me a bit of luck, not to mention the fact that without her support, the story never would have seen the light of day. Six years in and it is still going strong, with sequels behind it and a whole world filled with different adventures. The writing journey started with me writing at home or on my lunch hours at the embassy, but now I have an office in my home and do this full time. It's an incredible thing to look back and see just how far we have come.

It isn't always easy, of course. There are the occasional negative reviews, or book launches that don't go quite as planned. There are the odd months where sales cycle down far enough that I question my sanity for continuing to write. However, there are some really great times too. It's always been a passion of mine, and I love to share my imagination with others, but that is only what gets the ball rolling. It certainly doesn't keep the sails filled with the days are rough. But, there are many other times that remind me why this isn't just entertainment, it's good work. I'll get an email or letter from someone, or sometimes they find me in person to tell me about how my books affected them.

Some are looking for an escape, and find it in my world of Terramyr.

Others are kids who hated to read, but after trying my books can't get enough.

My own children, who each have tried to read far above their grade level just so they can enjoy "Daddy's stories."

Or the colleague or friend who comes up sheepishly, explaining why they put off reading my books only to find out that they really liked them later on.

The list goes on, but each of them are the reasons I like to write.

I continue to write for the kid who hates reading, because I was that kid. (Thanks R.A. Salvatore for changing that with The Crystal Shard!)

I write for the person who needs escape, because I certainly have been there many times.

I write for my kids, so they can see the value of hard work and dedication -- as well as develop their literacy.

And, I write for that colleague or friend, because I like seeing the smile on their face when they realize that my books are more fun than they had dared admit.

So, for these reasons, and many more-- let's show The Dragon's Champion some love. Pass it around to friends and family who would enjoy a good adventure, and let's make it a spectacular 6th birthday for this fun book!

Free books and a Harry Potter Giveaway!

Catch me on Bookbub; Amazon; Facebook; or Goodreads

Good morning!

Spring feels like it is well under way now. Over the weekend my wife and I worked in our garden with our five sons -- we're hoping we'll get a few more mammoth sunflowers like last year. The kids all worked their tails off, planting vegetables, fruits, and flowers. It was a fun time for sure. In terms of writing, I am still working on the Phinean and Jaleal books, and I have started a couple new projects that I am hoping to give you a sneak peek at in the next couple of months.
Preparations are also underway for SLC FanX -- so if you're in the area, be sure to drop by table TEAL 1 (TE1) in artist alley and say hi. I may also be attending Supercon in Florida this year-- I'll know for sure in the next few weeks whether I can make that work with my schedule, and what panels I might end up on.
Otherwise, I thought you might be interested in looking at Fantasy Portal's giveaway for April -- lots of Free fantasy books to choose from -- check it out:

And below I have a few book suggestions you might like as well. Dimwater's Door is available for pre-order now! The release date is June 18, so I hope you are ready to continue Kyra's adventures. This one is going to be an exciting ride.

Click here to snag your copy!

That's not all though. I just finished working on a really cool project. Some of you have seen it before, but for most of you this will be new. Son of the Dragon is an omnibus version of a trilogy I wrote. That means for the price of one book you get over 300 thousand words worth of action and adventure. The relaunch is up now for pre-order and is set to hit your inbox on April 30th. Don't miss it!
Click here to order your copy!

Now, I'm not sure this next one will interest all of you, but I want to mention it because the author, Greg Shaffer, is a good friend of mine. In a past life when I worked for the government, he and I served in the U.S. Embassy in Hungary together. He is a very smart individual, and has a vast wealth of experience from his career as a member of the FBI's elite Hostage Rescue Team. Please take a look and check out Greg's book.

Facebook groups and a BIG fantasy book giveaway!

I have a couple of things I thought you might be interested in. The first is a massive fantasy giveaway that includes 44 books by various authors. Click the link below and check them out if you like, but hurry because this giveaway will be over soon.

Check out all the different books by clicking here!

Also, as many of you know, I am a competitive powerlifter-- a lot of people have been asking for me to set up a group on FB to share programs, tips, etc. And I finally did. If you want to be included in the group, just click the link below and answer the couple of questions (which are there to screen out lurkers and bots) and join us for some positive fun. Whether you like to compete, or are just interested in staying generally fit, this will be a great group to be involved with.

Click here to join the FB group.

The last thing I wanted to talk with you about is a FB reader group. It's kind of like my street team where I offer books for free in exchange for your honest reviews-- but this would have more to it than that. I would like to chat about new ideas, existing projects, and other Terramyr topics that interest you so I can better understand which stories you guys like the best, and help adjust my writing schedule a bit. It all depends on interest though, so if you would be interested, then reply to sam_ferguson(at)talesfromterramyr.com email and send me a quick note -- you can even just say "yes" in the subject line to save time if you like, but I wanted to look for fun ways to engage with you all through something a little more interactive than emails and conventions.
I'll be looking forward to seeing your responses :)

A kingdom of death. A war for power and profit. Young heroes caught in the crossfire.

Kodyn expected hardships along his journey to return a kidnapped girl to her father.  Yet harsh deserts and cutthroat bandits prove far less lethal than the foes that await him in Shalandra, the City of the Dead.
In the shadows of golden spires carved from mountain stone, currents of corruption and vice run deep. Priests of the god of death rule with an iron fist, imposing a rigid caste system that elevates some to a life of privilege and condemns others to miserable squalor.
Together with Aisha, a fierce warrior from the north with the mystical ability to speak to the dead, Kodyn must survive the cesspool of high society deceit and betrayal.
Polite smiles hide sharp knives. Killers, criminals, and bloodthirsty cultists lurk around every corner. Can these youths overcome impossible odds to save the realm?
Click now if you love action, intrigue, and heroic deeds that will set your heart racing! For fans of A.C. Cobble, Jeff Wheeler, and Robin Hobb, Heirs of Destiny is a thrill ride on epic fantasy’s darker side.
"If you like intricate world-building, vivid descriptions that transport you to another place, and heart-pounding, visceral fight scenes, then Heirs of Destiny is your book!" – A.C. Cobble, author of Benjamin Ashwood

Some book recs and updates

Kyra is back! Book #4 in the Sorceress of Aspenwood series is penciled in for a tentative spring launch date.I have been working on this project for a while now trying to make this next installment as fun and exciting as possible. As any of you who read the other 3 books will know, we definitely have a few fun possibilities to explore. I'm hoping that I can send out a cover reveal and a teaser sample in the next couple of weeks too -- so keep an eye out for that.

In the meantime, the year is starting off well for the Ferguson clan. I'm only a few weeks away from my next powerlifting competition and hoping to set a couple of personal records there. I'm also expanding distribution of the Place Value Palace math video game, and have gotten some exciting feedback from students playing it so far.

Now, usually I post about my own books, but this week I want to present a couple of other authors and their work to you.

Happy reading!
--Sam
